Kaneka Sunduren™ represents pure, plasticizer-free PMMA films of high-end quality, available in thicknesses ranging from 50 µm to 300 µm for various applications.
Sunduren is a group of pure, plasticizer-free acrylic film grades produced in thicknesses ranging from 50 µm to 300 µm. They are used in construction materials, retroreflective films, automotive interior and exterior applications, and optics. The material offers excellent weather resistance and transparency, and it is easy to process.
Sunduren exhibits the following properties:
Protection for decorative films in the construction industry
Laminating Sunduren onto materials such as PVC, PC, ABS, or PET enhances the weather resistance, hardness, and chemical resistance of structural components, such as window profiles and garage doors.
Films for decorative automotive interior applications
Sunduren is suitable for automotive interior surfaces using IMD/IML processes and can be printed on directly. These rigid film types are characterized by excellent transparency, ease of cutting, and a high-quality surface with a very low tendency for inclusions.
Films for display applications
3D-molded displays – increasingly common in modern passenger cars and trucks – represent a specialized application. Sunduren grades are available for this purpose featuring anti-fingerprint and anti-reflective coatings. Key requirements include an excellent balance between formability and surface functionality, good weather resistance, high light transmission, and low phase difference.
Films for exterior automotive applications
Sunduren is also suitable for exterior vehicle surfaces. This transparent acrylic film, featuring a special coating, offers an alternative to painting. In addition to the previously described properties, key advantages include extensive design freedom and a lower carbon footprint compared to existing painting processes.
