The higher the polystyrene content, the greater the hardness. The higher the polyisobutylene content, the lower the hardness, accompanied by improved barrier and damping properties. In general, a higher total molecular weight results in improved mechanical performance.<\/p>\n<p>Its low hardness &#8211; ranging from Shore A 25 to 46 despite the absence of plasticizers &#8211; combined with an excellent gas barrier, sets a new benchmark in the world of TPEs. Compared to SEBS, the material offers up to ten times greater impermeability, enabling either new sealing geometries or reduced material usage.<\/p>\n<p>Applications include food packaging, protective films, vibration dampers, medical seals, etc., as well as the modification of other raw materials such as EVOH, TPU, COC, or PA.<\/p>\n<p>Processing is carried out via extrusion or injection molding. The compression set of some of these systems is a record-breaking 13% (22 hours at 121\u00b0C). Even under prolonged thermal stress, the compression set is only minimally affected.<\/p>\n<p>It is used for applications such as seals (e.g. wine corks) and liners in the general and pharmaceutical industries. Its purity and oil resistance make it the material of choice for food-contact applications and for modifying or increasing the flexibility of other plastics. <br \/>Processing is primarily carried out via injection molding.
